Saudi defence minister meets Yemen PLC chief Rashad Al-Alimi in Riyadh

Riyadh, January 14, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met in Riyadh on Wednesday with President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, alongside council members and senior Yemeni officials, SPA reported.


The meeting was attended by PLC members Tariq Saleh, Abdul Rahman Al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi Bawazeer and Othman Mujalli, as well as Yemeni Prime Minister Salem bin Braik and Minister of State and Governor of Aden Governorate Abdulrahman Al-Yafei.


Prince Khalid conveyed greetings from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, along with wishes for Yemen’s security, stability and prosperity. Al-Alimi conveyed greetings and appreciation to the Saudi leadership.


Talks covered bilateral ties and developments in Yemen, including efforts to end the crisis through a comprehensive political solution aimed at achieving lasting security and stability. The meeting also addressed continuing work related to the future of the southern cause through the Riyadh conference to develop an inclusive vision for solutions.


Prince Khalid reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Yemen, including economic support and development projects and programmes implemented through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) across Yemeni governorates.


Advisor to the Minister of Defense for Intelligence Affairs Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, and Major General Dr. Mohammed bin Obaid Al-Qahtani attended, SPA reported.
