SAMARKAND, November 6 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan visited the inaugural edition of the Bukhara Biennale of Contemporary Art on Wednesday as part of his official visit to Uzbekistan to attend the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand.

Prince Bader toured the biennale’s pavilions in Bukhara, which serves as a new regional platform for contemporary art in Central Asia. The event features participation from more than 200 artists and cultural practitioners representing 39 countries.

The biennale focuses on the interaction between contemporary artistic practices and historical identity, showcasing paintings, sculptures, traditional performances, and artisanal crafts that reflect Central Asia’s cultural heritage.

The Diriyah Biennale Foundation is participating in the event with a presentation of the winning design from the first edition of the Al-Musalla Prize. The installation, inspired by traditional Saudi weaving and textile techniques, is constructed using sustainably sourced palm-based materials. The work reflects a modern interpretation of open courtyards as spaces rooted in the Kingdom’s architectural, environmental, and cultural legacy.
