Saudi Crown Prince chairs Cabinet session, condemns Iranian attacks on UAE


JEDDAH, May 6 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman chaired the Cabinet session in Jeddah on Tuesday, during which he briefed ministers on his recent phone call with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in which he condemned Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and affirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for the Emirates in defending its security and stability.


The Crown Prince also briefed the Cabined on messages received by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi and himself from the leaders of Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Uzbekistan and Japan.


REGIONAL DEVELOPMENTS


The Cabinet reviewed current regional development, stressing the need for de-escalation and support for Pakistani mediation and diplomatic efforts to reach a political solution that spares the region further tension and instability. Ministers reiterated the importance of restoring freedom of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to its pre-February 28 state, ensuring safe and unhindered passage of ships.


DOMESTIC AGENDA


On the domestic front, the Cabinet reviewed overall performance indicators of key sectors amid the accelerated implementation of national strategies and initiatives, noting significant growth in local content, the expansion of national supply chains and strengthened competitiveness.


The Cabinet also considered the Lauch of Saudi Environment Week 2026, citing national environmental achievements that include a fourfold increase in protected areas, rehabilitation of more than one million hectares of desertified land, planting of 159 million trees using renewable water sources, and the release of thousands of endangered wildlife species.

• Customs cooperation and mutual assistance agreement with Tunisia.

• MoUs between King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language and Arabic language academies in Jordan and Morocco.

• MoU on judicial cooperation between Saudi Ministry of Justice and Pakistan’s Ministry of Law and Justice.

• MoU on mineral resources cooperation between Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy.

• MoU on postal sector cooperation between Saudi Ministry of Transport and Tunisia’s Ministry of Communication Techno logies.

• MoU between the High Commission for Industrial Security and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.

• MoU between the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and Turkey’s Halal Accreditation Agency.

• MoU between Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors (SAIA) and France’s IFACI on internal auditing, governance, risk and compliance.

• MoU between Saudi Agricultural Development Fund and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

• MoU between King Fahd National Library and the GCC General Secretariat on Knowledge and publishing cooperation.
