Riyadh, October 2, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb led the Kingdom’s delegation to the 25th World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, held in Rome from September 28 to 30, with the participation of policymakers and industry leaders from more than 70 countries.

Saudi Arabia showcased a global model of success in supporting innovation, enhancing cooperation, and preparing workers in the tourism sector.

Al-Khateeb launched the “Future of Work in Travel and Tourism” report in collaboration with WTTC and took part in a panel discussion titled “Connecting Continents: Crafting Collaborative Tourism Policies for a More Interconnected Future.”

On the sidelines of the summit, the minister met with public- and private-sector leaders, including chief executives, to discuss global tourism strategies.

He said the report highlights expected challenges and solutions for the sector as artificial intelligence and digital innovation reshape jobs. Since 2020, Saudi Arabia has provided more than 946,000 training opportunities in tourism and increased women’s participation in the workforce to 46%.

The WTTC report forecasts a shortage of over 43 million workers in the sector by 2035, including an 18% gap in hospitality jobs. Officials said Saudi Arabia’s efforts are now considered a global model.

Al-Khateeb also invited global partners to attend the UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh from November 7 to 11 and the Touraize Forum from November 11 to 13.
