Riyadh, March 19, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia has reserved the right to take military action against Iran if necessary, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said on Thursday following a meeting with Arab and Islamic foreign ministers on the ongoing escalation.
“We have reserved the right to take military actions, if deemed necessary, and if the time comes, the leadership of the Kingdom will take the necessary decision,” Prince Faisal said, adding that Saudi Arabia “will not shy away from protecting our country and our economic resources.”
His remarks came hours after Saudi air defenses intercepted ballistic missiles over Riyadh, with the foreign minister describing the targeting of the capital during diplomatic meetings as deliberate.
“I cannot see it as coincidental,” he said, adding that Iran was attempting to pressure its neighbors but “that’s not going to work.”
He said Saudi Arabia would not yield to such pressure, warning that any escalation would “backfire.”
Prince Faisal also said two refineries in Riyadh had been targeted, while Iranian strikes caused extensive damage at Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, a key liquefied natural gas facility.
The escalation has impacted global energy markets, with oil prices rising to around $110 per barrel following attacks on energy infrastructure across the region.
Iran has intensified strikes on energy facilities after accusing the United States and Israel of targeting its own oil and gas infrastructure, including the South Pars gas field.
