Saudi Arabia Records 10,725 Residency, Labor and Border Security Violations in One Week


RIYADH, June 14 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia recorded 10,725 violations of residency, labor and border security laws during inspection campaigns carried out across the Kingdom from June 4 to 10, the Ministry of Interior announced.


The violations included 5,899 residency violations, 3,084 border security violations and 1,742 labor law violations.


Border authorities apprehended 1,418 people attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally, including 43% Yemenis, 55% Ethiopians and 2% from other nationalities.


Authorities also arrested 34 people attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally and 18 people involved in transporting, sheltering or employing violators.


A total of 22,026 expatriates, including 20,459 men and 1,567 women, are currently undergoing regulatory procedures.


The ministry reported that 14,268 violators were instructed to contact their countries’ embassies or consulates to obtain travel documents, while 1,240 were advised to make travel arrangements and 7,989 were repatriated.


The Ministry of Interior warned that facilitating illegal entry into the Kingdom, transportation, shelter or assistance may result in penalties of up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to SAR1 million.


Vehicles used for transportation and properties used for shelter may also be confiscated.


The ministry urged the public to report violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Region, or 999 and 996 in other parts of the Kingdom.
