Saudi Arabia Intercepts Ballistic Missiles and Drones Targeting Eastern Province and Shaybah Oil Field

Riyadh, March 12, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles and seven drones launched toward sites in the Kingdom, Defense Ministry spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said Thursday. One ballistic missile was intercepted over the Eastern Province, while another was destroyed after being launched toward Prince Sultan Air Base, Al-Maliki said. Saudi defenses also intercepted seven drones in the Empty Quarter heading toward the Shaybah oil field, a major production site operated by Saudi Aramco. The Shaybah field is located in the Rub’ al Khali near the border with the United Arab Emirates. No further details were immediately released.
