Saudi Arabia, Germany hold 21st joint economic and technical commission in Riyadh

Riyadh, February 3, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia hosted the 21st session of the Saudi-German Joint Commission for Economic and Technical Cooperation on Monday, chaired by Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katharina Reiche, with government representatives from both countries attending.
The meeting reviewed ways to expand cooperation in energy, industry and investment, and explored opportunities in renewable energy and hydrogen, technology and health.
On the sidelines, the Saudi-German Business Council met and signed a memorandum of understanding setting a general framework for cooperation across energy-related areas. Additional agreements and memoranda of understanding were also signed between public- and private-sector institutions from both countries.
An energy-sector roundtable was held with participation from major energy companies from Saudi Arabia and Germany, focusing on investment opportunities and ways to strengthen partnerships in the sector.
The German delegation also visited King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where further memoranda of understanding were signed with German entities to support cooperation between the two countries’ startup ecosystems, back early-stage companies, and facilitate pathways from research to markets.
