RIYADH, October 25 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - International Maritime Industries has signed a contract worth approximately SAR1.692 billion to build three very large crude carriers for Bahri, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2030.

Each vessel will have a deadweight capacity of 320,000 tons and incorporate energy-efficiency technologies. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Saudi Maritime and Logistics Congress, IMI announced on Sunday.

Bahri Chief Executive Ahmed Alsubaey said the order supported the company’s long-term fleet modernization strategy, adding more efficient vessels while expanding cooperation with IMI and developing Saudi maritime supply chains.

IMI Chief Executive Abdullah Al-Ghamdi said the company aimed to support Bahri’s future requirements and expand domestic shipbuilding in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Based in Ras Al-Khair, IMI is developing a shipyard designed to build six offshore drilling rigs and more than 40 vessels annually, including very large crude carriers, once fully operational.

The facility is also expected to provide maintenance and repair services for up to 250 vessels and 15 drilling rigs a year. Its infrastructure will incorporate technologies including artificial intelligence and biometric systems.
