Saudi Arabia and Qatar Issue Joint Statement at Conclusion of Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s Visit

Riyadh, December 8, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia and Qatar issued a joint statement at the end of the visit of Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, made at the invitation of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to the statement, HRH the Crown Prince received the Amir of Qatar at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. Both sides held official talks to review bilateral relations, discuss cooperation prospects, and examine ways to develop relations in multiple fields.
The statement confirmed that the eighth meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council was held during the visit, co-chaired by HRH the Crown Prince and the Amir of Qatar. The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation and noted progress made within the council’s framework. Both sides emphasized continued coordination in political, security, military, energy, industrial, economic, investment, trade, technology, infrastructure, culture, tourism, and education sectors.
Economic relations were highlighted in the statement. Bilateral trade reached $930.3 million in 2024, excluding re-exports, an increase of 634% compared to 2021. Both sides stressed the need to expand trade, address challenges, and utilize opportunities under Saudi Vision 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030. They noted the importance of converting opportunities into direct partnerships and continuing investment cooperation between funds and companies.
The two countries affirmed the importance of global energy market stability and security of supply. They discussed cooperation in electricity, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and joint projects. The statement also noted the need to support energy supply chains, encourage cooperation between companies, and coordinate climate policies within international agreements, focusing on emissions.
The statement outlined additional fields of cooperation: digital economy, innovation, industry, mining, youth programs, sports, cultural activities, education including joint academic programs, media cooperation and media content credibility, cybersecurity, and health.
On defense and security, both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening their defense partnership, coordinating on regional challenges, and enhancing regional and international stability. They noted existing cooperation in expertise exchange, passenger security, training, cybersecurity events, border security, and efforts to combat drugs, extremism, terrorism and its financing, and crime.
Both sides welcomed the signing of the high-speed electric railway project connecting Riyadh and Doha through Dammam and Hofuf, describing it as a strategic initiative aligned with both national visions. They also welcomed additional agreements and memoranda of understanding covering rail transport, investment promotion, food security, media, and the non-profit sector.
On international matters, the statement affirmed the two countries’ commitment to cooperation aimed at maintaining international peace and security. The Saudi side noted Qatar’s ratification of the Global Water Organization charter.
At the conclusion of the visit, Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince for the reception and hospitality. HRH the Crown Prince conveyed best wishes to the Amir and to the people of Qatar.
