Saudi air defenses intercept two ballistic missiles and 47 drones in attacks across Kingdom

Riyadh, March 13 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi air defenses intercepted two ballistic missiles and dozens of drones targeting several locations across the Kingdom in two waves of attacks between Thursday evening and early Friday morning, the Ministry of Defense said.


Defense Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said air defenses intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles, one launched toward the Eastern Province and another targeting Prince Sultan Air Base.


Air defenses also destroyed multiple drones targeting the Shaybah oil field in the Empty Quarter, including one drone intercepted earlier in the evening, seven drones intercepted shortly afterward and additional drones destroyed later during the night.


Further interceptions were reported in the Eastern Province, where several drones were destroyed in separate incidents.


A second wave of attacks began early Friday, when Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed 12 drones after they entered the Kingdom’s airspace, followed by another seven drones intercepted shortly afterward.


Additional drones were intercepted in the Eastern Province, Al-Kharj governorate and the Empty Quarter, according to the statements.


Saudi air defenses also shot down a hostile drone attempting to approach the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh.


Further interceptions were reported later in Al-Kharj governorate and the Eastern Province, where additional drones were destroyed during the morning hours.


The interceptions were confirmed in a series of official statements issued by Defense Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki.
