Russia Calls French Seizure of DF Peak Tanker a Violation of International Law

RIYADH, October 13 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Russia’s embassy in France said on Tuesday that France’s seizure of the DF Peak tanker was a blatant violation of international law, the Russian state news agency RIA reported, according to Reuters.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on X on Monday that the French Navy had intercepted and boarded the tanker 450 nautical miles south of Réunion. He said the vessel was suspected of flying a false flag and transporting fuel illicitly as part of Russia’s shadow fleet.
RIA reported that the Russian embassy described the seizure as piracy and was trying to establish whether Russian citizens were among the crew. The embassy also said France had not notified Russia of the seizure.
