RIYADH, August 2 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Türkiye discussed possible membership in the International Dates Council during talks between the organisation’s executive director and the Turkish ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Princess Sarah bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz met Ambassador Emrullah İşler at the Turkish Embassy in Riyadh to review the membership process and the council’s work in the global dates sector.

Türkiye imported 67,093 tonnes of dates valued at $133.7 million in 2025, placing it among the world’s leading importers.

The International Dates Council brings together producing, exporting and importing countries to develop common frameworks, standards and data for the sector.

The council also works to increase the economic value of dates, expand access to international markets and support long-term sustainability.
