ISLAMABAD, March 23 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Pakistan could host direct talks aimed at helping end the war in Iran as soon as this week, a Pakistani official and a second source said, as regional states stepped up efforts to contain the conflict.

The diplomatic push came as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed the impact of the war on regional and global security, Iranian media reported.

Pezeshkian was quoted as saying Iran remained committed to preserving stability and security, countering foreign interference in regional affairs and strengthening cooperation with countries in the region.

The possible Islamabad track comes amid wider back-channel efforts involving Egypt, Pakistan and Gulf states, which have been relaying messages between Iran and the United States, a European official told Reuters.

The contacts underscored growing regional efforts to support de-escalation as the war raised concerns over broader security and stability across the Middle East.
