Over 53.5 Million Visit the Two Holy Mosques During Rabi' al-Awwal

Makkah/Medina, Sept 27, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque said that more than 53.5 million Umrah performers and visitors came to the Two Holy Mosques during the month of Rabi' al-Awwal 1447 AH.


At the Grand Mosque in Makkah, the number of visitors totaled 17,560,004, including 91,753 who prayed at Hijr Ismail (Al-Hateem). The number of Umrah performers reached 12,146,516.


The authority added that the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina received 20,701,560 visitors, including 1,002,049 who prayed in Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah. Meanwhile, 2,071,101 visitors offered greetings to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his two Companions.


According to the authority, advanced technology such as sensor readers has been deployed at the main entrances of both mosques to monitor the number of visitors and pilgrims. The system aims to enhance operational efficiency by tracking crowd flows and supporting authorities in management efforts in coordination with relevant entities.
