Saudi Crown Prince, Syrian President Hold Talks in Riyadh, Sign Cooperation Agreements

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, November 4 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Riyadh on Wednesday for talks on bilateral cooperation and regional security, with the two countries signing agreements covering defence, industry and development projects, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Al-Sharaa visited the Kingdom at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, as Riyadh and Damascus seek to strengthen political and economic ties.
The two leaders discussed regional and international developments, warning that further military escalation could threaten maritime security, energy supplies and global economic stability.
They called for greater diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions and resolve disputes peacefully, while urging an immediate halt to activities threatening shipping in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Strait of Hormuz.
Both sides also reaffirmed their coordination on regional and international issues and discussed expanding cooperation across several sectors, SPA said.
The visit resulted in an agreement between the Saudi and Syrian defence ministries and a memorandum of understanding on industrial cooperation.
Additional memoranda covered agricultural cooperation and environmental protection, while the Saudi Fund for Development signed agreements with Syrian counterparts for projects involving infrastructure, healthcare, housing and financial services.
The agreements broaden cooperation between the two countries in areas ranging from security and industrial development to public services and reconstruction-related investment.
During the meeting, Crown Prince Mohammed conveyed King Salman’s greetings to the Syrian president, who expressed his appreciation for the invitation and the reception extended to his delegation.
