KUWAIT CITY, July 19, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Iran attacked a Kuwaiti power generation and water desalination plant on Sunday for the second consecutive day, damaging numerous electricity-generating units, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said.

The ministry described the strike as a “heinous” attack and said a resulting fire affected a “large number of electricity generation units.”

Emergency plans were activated to maintain the stability of the plant’s electrical system. The ministry did not immediately report whether the latest attack caused casualties or disrupted electricity and water supplies.

Saturday’s strike also caused a fire at the facility, although the ministry said it was confined to one of the plant’s components.

The renewed attack comes as Iran continues striking US-allied countries across the region. Kuwait depends on desalination for approximately 90% of its freshwater requirements.
