Iran’s Pezeshkian Rejects Nuclear Weapons, Limits on Peaceful Technology
NEW YORK, September 23, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran did not seek a nuclear bomb but would not accept limits on its access to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
“We say it clearly, no nuclear weapons and no limitations to peaceful nuclear technology,” Pezeshkian said in remarks reported by Reuters.
He said nuclear technology should not be reserved for a small group of countries.
Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium remains a major point of contention in negotiations with the United States to end the war. U.S. President Donald Trump has insisted that Iran give it up.
Iran says its enrichment program is for peaceful purposes. Western powers and Israel suspect Tehran intends to develop the means to make nuclear weapons.
Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have repeatedly identified the destruction of Iran’s nuclear program as an aim of the U.S. and Israeli strikes launched at the end of February.
