Iran’s Chief Negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf Says US, Israel Failed to Meet War Goals

RIYADH, Aug 17 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Iran’s chief negotiator and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the United States and Israel had “failed to achieve” the objectives they established at the beginning of their war with Iran.

Ghalibaf did not identify the objectives he believed had been prevented or explain how Iran had blocked them.

The Trump administration had previously set out goals that included securing Iran’s complete surrender, changing its government, preventing the country from ever developing a nuclear weapon and ending Tehran’s support for regional groups including Hezbollah.

“This was the greatest absolute defeat,” Ghalibaf said Sunday, according to Iran’s SNN TV.

Ghalibaf presented Iran’s ability to prevent the US and Israel from reaching their objectives as a victory for Tehran.

“I say with all my heart that we have truly won this war,” he said.
