Iran Does Not Plan to Move Enriched Uranium Abroad, Official Reports

May 29 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Iran does not intend to transfer its stockpile of enriched uranium to another country, state-affiliated Mizan News Agency reported, citing Russian state media.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Commission, made the remarks in an interview with Russian state news outlet RIA Novosti, Mizan reported.

“Tehran does not intend to transfer its enriched uranium to a third country,” Azizi was quoted as saying.

The issue remains a key point in negotiations between Iran and the United States, as the two sides are reportedly close to an agreement to formalize a ceasefire and open the Strait of Hormuz.

Talks are expected to focus on nearly 1,000 pounds of uranium purified to 60%.

Iran has repeatedly said it will not relinquish its enriched uranium stockpile, while insisting it is not pursuing a nuclear weapon.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said it was “TBD” whether President Donald Trump would sign a tentative memorandum of understanding with Iran, adding that the two countries were still negotiating “a couple of language points.”

Vance said progress had been made, but that key points related to Iran’s nuclear programme and enriched uranium remained unresolved.
