DUBAI, July 2 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - An Iranian military commander warned the United States and Israel on Thursday against any attack on Iran as the country prepares for the state funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Ali Abdollahi, commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Iran’s armed forces would deliver a harsh response to any threat or aggression against the country.

The warning comes ahead of funeral processions for Khamenei, which are scheduled to begin on July 4 in Tehran and conclude on July 9 with his burial in Mashhad.

Additional ceremonies are planned in Qom and Iraq during the funeral period.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi issued a similar warning on Wednesday, saying Tehran would deliver an immediate and powerful response to any threat against its people or leadership.

Iranian media reported heightened security measures during the funeral period.

Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation said temporary airspace restrictions would be implemented over several cities, including Tehran and Mashhad.
