General Directorate of Civil Defense Warns of Thunderstorms Across Most Saudi Regions Until Saturday
RIYADH, October 12 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The General Directorate of Civil Defense urged the public to exercise caution and remain in safe places as thunderstorms are expected to continue across most regions of Saudi Arabia until Saturday.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense advised people to avoid flood-prone areas, including valleys, and warned against swimming in them. It also urged the public to follow instructions issued through media outlets and social media platforms.
The National Center for Meteorology forecast moderate to heavy rain in Makkah Region, with possible flash floods, hail and downdrafts that stir up dust and sand. Light to moderate rain is expected in Riyadh Region, with similar risks.
Moderate to heavy rain is also forecast in Jazan, Aseer and Al-Baha regions. The National Center for Meteorology said the rainfall could cause flash floods and hail, accompanied by downdrafts that raise dust and sand.
Light to moderate rain is expected in Madinah, Eastern, Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Northern Borders and Najran regions, according to the National Center for Meteorology.
