Hail, December 12 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia’s Hail region is recording growth across multiple economic sectors, supported by its strategic location, varied terrain and favorable climate, which have contributed to rising investment in tourism, agriculture, industry and transport infrastructure.
Tourism activity in the region increased significantly in 2025, with more than three million visitors recorded in the first half of the year, according to local authorities. The growth has been driven by cultural events, festivals and the development of heritage sites, including the UNESCO-listed Jabal Umm Sinman in Jubbah and the Shuwaymis rock art site.
Officials said Hail’s mountainous landscape and temperate climate have strengthened its appeal for heritage, hiking and rural tourism. In response, the municipality has signed investment agreements worth SAR179 million, including projects focused on rural lodges and the Aja hills development, which is expected to include hotel and resort facilities.
The Hail Regional Development Authority has also concluded agreements to operate specialized tourist routes and promote the region internationally as part of broader tourism expansion efforts.
Beyond tourism, Hail remains a major agricultural center, supported by fertile soil and access to freshwater resources. The region is home to around 15,000 farms covering approximately 240,000 hectares of agricultural land.
Infrastructure development has also continued, with the region’s road network extending more than 5,900 kilometers. Authorities recently inaugurated 13 road projects spanning a combined 358 kilometers, with a total value of SAR47 million, reinforcing Hail’s role as a logistics hub.
Environmental protection initiatives are being implemented alongside economic development, with programs aimed at preserving vegetation, protecting wildlife and improving the sustainability of natural resources.
Officials said the region’s multi-sector development aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives to diversify the economy and promote balanced regional growth.
