Five Shura Island Resorts Receive LEED Platinum Certification

RIYADH, July 11, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Five resorts on Shura Island at The Red Sea destination have received LEED Platinum certification, the highest level awarded under the global green building rating system, Red Sea Global announced.
The certifications bring the total number of LEED Platinum-certified hotels and resorts at The Red Sea to 10, representing 1,207 hotel rooms across 236,405 square meters of certified built-up area.
According to Red Sea Global, the milestone makes it the developer with the largest number of LEED Platinum-certified hotels and resorts worldwide.
The newly certified properties are The Red Sea EDITION, InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, SLS The Red Sea, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Red Sea at Shura Island, and Miraval The Red Sea.
Six additional resorts on Shura Island are preparing to open and are at advanced stages of obtaining LEED certification this year.
Awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED certification assesses building performance across areas including energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality and the use of materials with reduced environmental impact.
The five resorts are powered entirely by renewable energy and incorporate energy-efficient engineering solutions, low-impact building materials and advanced systems designed to improve their environmental performance.
“The first Four Seasons resort’s receipt of LEED Platinum certification reflects our commitment to delivering a hospitality experience that combines luxury and sustainability, while supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030,” said Kai Dieckmann, general manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Red Sea at Shura Island.
“This is aligned with Red Sea Global’s ‘for people and planet’ approach. Sustainability is a core element in the design, operations, and future vision of our resort.”
Shura Island is being developed as the central hospitality hub of The Red Sea destination, bringing together international resorts through an approach intended to combine environmental protection with high-end tourism.
