ABU DHABI, June 8 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Etihad Airways and TAROM signed a codeshare agreement connecting Etihad passengers with Romania and Eastern Europe and linking Romanian travellers to Abu Dhabi, WAM reported.
The agreement was signed during the IATA Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro.
Under the partnership, Etihad passengers can book a single ticket on TAROM flights from Bucharest to Baia Mare, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Oradea, Suceava and Timisoara.
The codeshare also covers Belgrade, Budapest, Chisinau and Sofia.
Travellers from Romania will be able to reach Abu Dhabi from Bucharest through Etihad’s new service, scheduled to launch on December 17, 2026.
Once the service begins, passengers can travel on a single ticket between Bucharest and destinations across Etihad’s network, with baggage checked through to the final destination.
From Abu Dhabi, travellers can connect to Etihad destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.
“TAROM gives Etihad real depth in Eastern Europe,” Etihad Airways Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer Arik De said, adding that the codeshare allows the airline to enter the Romanian market “with genuine scale from day one.”
TAROM Chief Commercial Officer Mircea Nicolae Cotoros said the agreement expands TAROM’s international reach and strengthens links between Romania and the Middle East.
With TAROM added, Etihad’s partner network now includes 47 codeshare partners and more than 130 interline partners, giving passengers access to more than 350 destinations worldwide.
