Emirati racer Alia Abdulsalam surpasses world speed record in Formula 4 powerboats

OSLO, August 28 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Emirati racer Alia Abdulsalam Fairooz recorded a speed of 129 km/h during an official Formula 4 powerboat attempt in Norway, surpassing the previous mark while awaiting formal certification.
The attempt took place over a one-kilometre distance on Lake Songe on August 27. WAM identified British racer John Brewer as the holder of the previous world speed record of 128.7 km/h.
Certification procedures are scheduled to be completed during an international competition in the United Kingdom in November under the supervision of the relevant international authorities and federations.
Alia Abdulsalam completed three weeks of intensive technical trials and preparation before the attempt, gradually developing her performance toward the targeted speed.
If the result is officially certified under her name, she would become the first Emirati female racer to achieve the milestone in the history of marine speed sports.
