Crown Prince Camel Festival’s First Trophy Races Set for Saturday in Taif

RIYADH, September 4, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The first trophy races of the eighth Crown Prince Camel Festival will take place on Saturday at the historic Taif Camel Racing Field, with prizes for the concluding evening session exceeding SAR6 million, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The festival opened on Thursday under the patronage of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. Organized by the Saudi Camel Federation, it will run through September 13 and offer total prize money exceeding SAR50 million.
Saturday’s races will conclude the Haqayiq division, which features young camels. The division’s three-day program comprises 92 races, each covering two kilometers, with total prizes of SAR13.3 million.
Six trophy races will headline the final evening session. The winner of the general female camel race will receive SAR700,000, while the winners of the open female race and the Saudi-bred general female race will each receive SAR500,000.
For the male camel races, the general category winner will receive SAR500,000. The winners of the open and Saudi-bred general races will each be awarded SAR400,000.
Prizes in the six trophy races will be distributed among the top five finishers. The total value of awards during the concluding evening session will reach SAR6.1 million.
Following the Haqayiq competition, the festival will enter its second stage on Sunday with the Laqaya division. It will feature 64 races over four kilometers across three consecutive days.
