Celine Dion Opens Paris Concert Residency After Six-Year Absence
PARIS, September 14 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Celine Dion opened her Paris concert residency on Saturday, returning to a full concert programme after a six-year absence with a performance in Nanterre, on the outskirts of the French capital.
The residency comprises 16 concerts, with a further 10 dates scheduled for 2027, Reuters reported.
Dion thanked fans for supporting her through the years leading up to her return, speaking mostly in French during the show.
“I’m standing on stage in this city I love so much thanks to your support and your love,” she told the audience. “The path was rocky, the road was longer than planned but I held on.”
She opened with the French-language song “On Ne Change Pas” and held her microphone towards the audience when she broke down in tears during the number.
“I promised I wouldn’t cry - but they’re tears of joy,” she said.
The programme also included “My Heart Will Go On” and “All By Myself”.
Among those attending was British fan Catherine Rushforth, who spoke about Dion’s account of her absence as she left the arena.
“She didn’t shy away from what she suffered and she shared it with her audience,” Rushforth said.
Fans have also been gathering outside Dion’s hotel in Paris into the early hours, hoping to see her, according to Reuters.
“Her fight is an example for all of us, it’s wonderful,” said Julien Faruch, a fan who works as a chef.
