RIYADH, August 17 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — A Canadian falcon farm representative said decades of breeding experience and continued development of bloodlines helped produce the Super White Gyrfalcon that sold for SAR1.3 million at the International Falcon Breeders Auction 2026.

Faris Abdullah Al-Faris attributed the falcon’s value to what he described as its rare characteristics, specifications and quality. He said producing a bird of that caliber required sustained work to develop breeding lines.

The farm expected the Gyrfalcon to attract a high price during the seventh auction night, Al-Faris said. The result exceeded its expectations and made the bird the second-most expensive Gyrfalcon sold in the auction’s history.

Al-Faris said the Canadian farm was established in the early 1980s and had participated in the auction since its inception. He described it as one of the world’s oldest falcon breeding farms and said it was known for its involvement in falcon racing and beauty competitions.

The farm has maintained and developed its production standards over successive years, according to Al-Faris. He said its breeding stock had also contributed to production lines used by several falcon farms around the world.

The Canadian farm entered another racing falcon in the auction, which sold for SAR150,000. Al-Faris said the prices achieved by the two birds reflected the standing of the farm’s production among falconers and enthusiasts.
