Bahrain Calls for UN Security Council Action over Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

MANAMA, October 22 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Bahrain called on the United Nations Security Council to act under Chapter VII of the UN Charter against repeated Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, saying the international response must go beyond verbal condemnation.
The Foreign Ministry urged firm measures to stop attacks on civilians and vital infrastructure, hold those responsible accountable and ensure the full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly resolutions 2216 and 2817.
The appeal followed attacks on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region. The ministry said the two incidents killed a Saudi citizen and three Asian residents and injured ten others, while causing material damage.
Bahrain described the attacks as part of a systematic campaign rather than isolated incidents. It cited four attacks in less than two weeks involving King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport and the Shaybah oil field.
The ministry said the targeting of vital facilities threatened global energy security and international peace and security. It described the attacks as violations of international law, international humanitarian law and the UN Charter.
Bahrain reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s measures to protect its security, stability and territory, as well as its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The ministry said Saudi security was inseparable from Bahrain’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council states. It also extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
