Bahrain Backs Saudi Arabia, Condemns Houthi Attacks on Kingdom

MANAMA, Oct 6 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Bahrain expressed full support for Saudi Arabia and its efforts through the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, while condemning continued Houthi attacks targeting Saudi cities, civilians, civilian and economic facilities and sites in Makkah and Madinah.

Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the kingdom supports Saudi Arabia’s efforts to back Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and legitimate government in restoring state institutions and addressing security threats.

The ministry also backed efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen based on the three references and aimed at meeting the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security and stability.

Bahrain strongly condemned what it described as continued attacks by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, including strikes targeting Riyadh, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan, Najran, Taif and Yanbu.

The ministry also cited attacks targeting civilians, civilian and economic facilities, sites in Makkah and Madinah, and Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab Strait.

Bahrain affirmed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security, sovereignty and the safety of citizens and residents.

The ministry cited Saudi Arabia’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and said the Kingdom’s security is an integral part of the security of Bahrain and the other Gulf Cooperation Council states under the Joint Defense Agreement.

Bahrain also called on the United Nations Security Council, particularly its permanent members, to act against threats to maritime navigation and energy supplies.

The ministry called for full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolutions 2216 and 2817, in support of regional and international peace and security.
