Riyadh, March 10, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Australia will deploy a reconnaissance aircraft and defensive missiles to the United Arab Emirates to help protect Australian nationals and other civilians in the country, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

Albanese told reporters that Australia will send an E-7A Wedgetail radar aircraft to provide long-range reconnaissance capabilities and support regional airspace security.

The aircraft will be operated by a crew of 85 personnel, Defense Minister Richard Marles said.

Australia will also supply an unspecified number of advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM) for defensive purposes, Marles added.

The deployment is intended to support the defense of Gulf countries, particularly the United Arab Emirates, where a significant number of Australian citizens reside.

Albanese said the move does not represent offensive action against Iran and confirmed that Australia will not deploy troops to Iran.
