Saudi Arabia Records 14,542 Residency, Labor and Border Security Violations

RIYADH, August 15 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior recorded 14,542 residency, labor and border security violations during inspection campaigns conducted across the Kingdom from August 6 to 12.
The total comprised 7,216 residency violations, 3,843 border security violations and 3,483 labor violations.
Border authorities apprehended 1,457 people attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally. Ethiopians accounted for 67% of those intercepted, Yemenis for 32% and other nationalities for 1%. Authorities also arrested 19 people attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.
Another 22 people were arrested for transporting, sheltering or employing violators.
The ministry said 32,479 expatriates — 30,540 men and 1,939 women — were undergoing enforcement procedures.
It separately reported that 18,818 people had been instructed to contact their embassies or consulates to obtain travel documents, 6,355 had been directed to arrange their departure and 12,945 had been repatriated.
The ministry warned that facilitating illegal entry, transporting or sheltering violators, or providing them with other forms of assistance may carry penalties of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR1 million. Vehicles used for transport and properties used for shelter may also be confiscated.
Members of the public can report suspected violations by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh and Eastern regions, or 999 and 996 elsewhere in the Kingdom.
