Alomairi Wins Saudi Arabia’s First World Fencing Championships Medal

HONG KONG, July 28, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Saudi fencer Khalifah Alomairi won bronze in the senior men’s individual epee at the Fencing World Championships in Hong Kong, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The result marked Saudi Arabia’s first medal at the championships and made the Kingdom the second Arab country after Egypt to win a men’s world fencing medal.
Alomairi defeated Luxembourg’s Flavio Giannotte, South Korea’s Jang Hyomin and Italy’s Simone Mencarelli before beating Japan’s Koki Kano in the quarterfinals to secure the bronze medal.
The result was Alomairi’s third major medal within a year, following silver at the GCC Games and bronze at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
