Who were the three Khamenei sons in attendance at their father’s funeral?

TEHRAN, July 5 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Three children of late Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei attended a funeral ceremony in Tehran on Sunday, while Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded him as Supreme Leader, was not seen at the event.

Mostafa, Masoud and Meysam Khamenei were seen mourning as the coffins of Khamenei and four other family members were placed at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla in the Iranian capital.

Mostafa Khamenei, 64, is the eldest of the late leader’s children and a Shiite cleric. He has had limited formal political activity and does not currently hold a government position, though he is considered influential in religious circles.

Masoud Khamenei, 52, also a cleric, directs the Office for Preserving and Publishing Khamenei’s Works, which is responsible for preserving and promoting the former Supreme Leader’s speeches and writings.

The pro-reform activist outlet Iranwire has described Masoud as controlling a large propaganda apparatus with links to multiple media outlets.

Meysam Khamenei, 48, the youngest of Khamenei’s children, has maintained a lower public profile than some of his siblings. He has also worked at the Office for Preserving and Publishing the Supreme Leader’s Works.

Others seen at Sunday’s ceremony included Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Mojtaba Khamenei’s father-in-law, and Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, Khamenei’s son-in-law.

A small coffin carrying Zahra, Golpayegani’s four-year-old daughter, was also laid to rest during the ceremony.
