Vance Says Israeli Officials Are Trying to Turn US Opinion Against Iran Deal
WASHINGTON, July 16, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — US Vice President JD Vance said some members of Israel’s government were attempting to influence American public opinion against an agreement to end the war with Iran and extend the military campaign.
“I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there have been people within the Israeli government who are trying to actually shift us away from that policy because they want to continue the military campaign,” Vance said.
The comments were made during an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience published Wednesday.
Vance said he had good relations with some Israeli officials but accused others within the country’s political system of attempting to keep the conflict going indefinitely.
“There are some people within their system that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that are manipulating and trying to change American public opinion to keep the war going on indefinitely,” he said.
The vice president said attempts by allies and adversaries to influence US policy did not inherently concern him.
He said such efforts became problematic “when those operations, those influence campaigns, actually affect American political judgment.”
Vance also defended the interim agreement signed between the United States and Iran last month, echoing his previous criticism of Israeli government policy.
