US Renews Saudi Travel Warning, Says Land Borders Remain Open

RIYADH, October 18 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The U.S. Mission in Saudi Arabia renewed its warning to American citizens over potential airport attacks and flight disruptions on Sunday, while saying all land border crossings remained operational.
The October 18 security alert identified the King Fahd Causeway to Bahrain among the crossings that remained open. It also said highways and roads in and around Riyadh, Jeddah and Dhahran were operational.
Operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh remained suspended, according to the alert, which did not give a reopening date.
King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam remained operational, with some delays and cancellations.
The mission urged citizens to exercise extreme caution when using airports, check departures directly with airlines and airports, and follow Saudi Civil Defense alerts transmitted to mobile phones. It warned of possible airport attacks, airspace closures, flight cancellations and other travel disruptions.
Private cars, trains and buses could provide alternatives to flying, the mission said, advising travellers to confirm availability and schedules with providers.
U.S. government employees working in Saudi Arabia continued to require special authorization from the Chief of Mission to use any airport in the country.
