US Embassy in Saudi Arabia hit by suspected Iranian drones, sources say

Riyadh, March 3, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia was hit by two suspected Iranian drones, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry confirmed the attack, citing a limited fire and minor material damage. One source cited no initial reports of injuries.

A further two suspected Iranian drones struck at or near the embassy, a separate source familiar with the matter said.

After the incident, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced efforts to destroy what it called American political centers in the region. In a Telegram post, it referenced an explosion at the U.S. embassy in Riyadh.

U.S. President Donald Trump, asked by NewsNation about retaliation, responded, “you’ll find out soon.”

The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh is among U.S. military and diplomatic installations targeted by Iran. CNN also reported the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait was hit on Sunday and Monday.

The U.S. Mission to Saudi Arabia issued a shelter-in-place notification for Jeddah, Riyadh and Dhahran and said it is limiting non-essential travel to military installations in the region. It recommended American citizens in the kingdom shelter in place immediately.
