Riyadh, October 2, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said cyberspace has become essential for innovation and opportunity but warned of vulnerabilities that can undermine trust, disrupt societies, and threaten peace.
In a video address to the Global Cybersecurity Forum 2025, held in Riyadh under the theme “Scaling Cohesive Advancement in Cyberspace”, Guterres called for collective action to ensure cyberspace serves the common good by investing in people, building skills, and fostering inclusion.
He stressed the importance of building global partnerships based on solidarity and shared responsibility, noting that the UN remains committed to advancing a vision of cyberspace that is open, secure, and grounded in international law.
The Kingdom, represented by the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) in cooperation with the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE) and the Global Cybersecurity Forum Institute, announced the launch of the Global Initiative for Capacity Building in Cyberspace, in partnership with the United Nations and specialized agencies.
The Global Cybersecurity Forum Institute, established by Royal Decree in 2023, oversees the implementation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s global initiatives on Child Protection in Cyberspace (CPC) and Women Empowerment in Cybersecurity (WEC).
