London, March 1, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Britain’s Defence Ministry said on Sunday a Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jet operating from Qatar shot down an Iranian drone that was heading toward Qatari territory, as regional tensions escalated following major United States and Israeli strikes on Iran.

The ministry said the Typhoon, part of the joint UK-Qatar Typhoon Squadron, was conducting a defensive air patrol when it used an air-to-air missile to destroy the drone.

The engagement followed coordinated United States and Israeli strikes in Iran on Saturday, after which Iran launched missile and drone attacks against Israeli territory and United States bases across the Gulf, including facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, according to the account.

“Our Armed Forces are playing a vital role to protect our people, our interests and our Allies,” the Defence Ministry said.
