UAE President and Qatar Emir Hold Talks in Abu Dhabi as Regional Tensions Rise

ABU DHABI, March 31, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday to discuss regional escalation, its impact on security and stability, and bilateral relations, state news agency WAM reported.
The two leaders reviewed the implications of the military escalation for regional and international security, maritime security and the global economy, WAM said.
They also discussed what WAM described as continued Iranian attacks targeting the UAE, Qatar and other countries in the region, including attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, as well as efforts to protect security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The meeting also covered relations between the UAE and Qatar and ways to expand cooperation in support of mutual interests and development priorities, WAM said.
Sheikh Tamim arrived in the UAE earlier on Tuesday and was received at the airport by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and a number of senior officials, according to WAM.
Senior Emirati and Qatari officials attended the meeting, including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Qatar Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
