December 30, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday it would terminate the remaining counterterrorism personnel in Yemen of its own volition, citing recent developments and their potential implications for the safety and effectiveness of counterterrorism missions, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The ministry said the UAE has participated as part of the Arab Coalition since 2015 in support of legitimacy in Yemen, backing international efforts to combat terrorist organisations and pursuing security and stability for the Yemeni people, WAM reported.
It said the UAE Armed Forces concluded their military presence in Yemen in 2019 after completing assigned missions within agreed official frameworks, and that the remaining presence had been limited to specialised personnel as part of counterterrorism efforts, in coordination with relevant international partners.
The ministry said the termination would be carried out in a manner that ensures the safety of its personnel and in coordination with the concerned partners, WAM reported.
It added the move followed a comprehensive assessment of current requirements and was in line with the UAE’s commitments and its role in supporting security and stability in the region, according to WAM.
