ANKARA, August 20 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Türkiye’s Defense Ministry urged Israel to end what it called “reckless attacks” and denied that a Turkish military delegation was present at a Syrian air base targeted by Israel.

The ministry said no Turkish delegation was at the base either before or during the attack, rejecting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s allegation that Türkiye intended to deploy military capabilities at the site.

“We emphasize at every opportunity that attacks violating Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are unacceptable,” the ministry said.

It added that it was “essential” that Israel stops “such reckless attacks and fulfills the requirements of international law.”

Netanyahu, who acknowledged on Tuesday that Israel carried out the strike, defended the operation on Wednesday by claiming Türkiye was preparing to deploy military capabilities at the base. Türkiye dismissed that claim as “untenable.”

The strike also drew criticism from Tom Barrack, the Trump administration’s envoy for Syria, who described it as an “unnecessary escalation.”

Türkiye linked Netanyahu’s actions to Israel’s elections scheduled for October, citing what it described as his “intent to pursue expansionist and destabilizing policies in the region.”
