Turkey Says It Is Interested in Joining EU’s SEPA Payments System

ANKARA, July 1 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Turkey is interested in joining the European Union’s Single Euro Payments Area payments system, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Wednesday.

Fidan said related financial institutions were working on the issue.

He was responding to a question at a press conference about talks held on Tuesday in Ankara with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and two other EU commissioners.

Turkey and the EU have been holding talks on the 41-country SEPA system, which is designed to make cross-border euro payments cheaper, faster and more secure.
