WASHINGTON, June 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — U.S. President Donald Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he could isolate himself if Israel continued strikes on Iran, according to Axios.
“I said, ‘Bibi, you better be careful, or you will be on your own very soon,’” Trump told Axios.
Trump told Axios that Israel gave the United States “very late notice” before Sunday’s strikes on Iran, which have since stopped.
Netanyahu has signaled that strikes could resume.
Trump is working to reach an agreement to end the war with Iran.
Five regional countries urged Trump to intervene with Netanyahu after the recent strikes, according to Axios.
“These countries were very concerned. They love the deal that we have been negotiating,” Trump said, without identifying the countries.
Iranian officials also contacted Washington, saying they would stop firing if Israel halted attacks, Trump told Axios.
“They called us and said that they are not doing any more attacks and asked us to tell Israel not to do any more attacks,” Trump said.
