Washington, Sept 20, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he will host Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan at the White House on September 25, adding that he expects the visit to conclude trade and military agreements.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that discussions will cover “many trade and military deals,” including the large-scale purchase of Boeing aircraft, an F-16 agreement, and the continuation of F-35 talks, which he said he expects to conclude positively.
Erdogan last visited the White House in 2019 during Trump’s first term. While the two leaders maintained close personal ties during 2017–21, the period was also marked by tensions over Washington’s relationship with Kurdish fighters in Syria and Ankara’s ties with Moscow.
Relations soured further in 2019 when Turkey purchased Russian S-400 missile defenses, prompting Washington to block the planned sale of F-35 fighter jets to Ankara and remove Turkey from the joint production program. Ankara later moved forward with a deal to purchase F-16 jets.
