Trump says no plans to punish those responsible for US strike against Iranian school

RIYADH, June 17 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged that “mistakes are made” when asked about a U.S. strike on an Iranian school during the first day of the war against Iran, but said he did not plan to hold anyone in his administration accountable while the incident remains under investigation.

“No. If it was a fault, and as you know, that’s under investigation. It’s such a strange question to be asked at this state, talking about a long time ago, but nobody did that on purpose. … What about the thousands of soldiers that they blew up when they opened their car door? What about the thousands of people that were killed by Iran? No, mistakes are made,” Trump said during a press conference at the G7 Summit.

Trump said “war is nasty” and added that the incident was being investigated by the Department of Defense. He referred further questions to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

On February 28, the U.S. military accidentally struck an Iranian elementary school in an attack that state media said killed at least 168 children and 14 teachers.

The strike on the Shajareh Tayyiba school in Minab likely resulted from outdated information about a nearby naval base, according to the initial military investigation.

The school was hit while the U.S. military was conducting strikes on a neighboring Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facility.
