Trump Says Iran Deal Could Be Reached Within Days

WASHINGTON, June 9 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — U.S. President Donald Trump said a deal aimed at ending the conflict with Iran could be reached in “two or three days,” CNN reported.

Trump told reporters early Tuesday that the agreement would stop Iran from having a nuclear weapon and lead to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

He spoke after attending the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.

Trump said Iran and Israel had agreed to stop firing at each other following the worst escalation between the two sides since a ceasefire came into effect in early April.

“They were going back and forth, and now they both agreed, through me, to stop,” Trump said before boarding Air Force One.

“We’re in the final throes of what will be a very, very good deal, that will not allow in any way, shape, or form nuclear weapons,” he added.

Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen immediately after the signing of an agreement.

“The strait will open up right away. It’ll open up immediately upon signing, which could be in two or three days,” he said.

Trump said he did not believe there were any remaining sticking points and that all parties were “very close” to reaching a deal.

The U.S. blockade on Iranian ports is continuing, he added.
