Washington, September 10, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – U.S. President Donald Trump said he was “not thrilled” about Israel’s strike targeting Hamas leaders inside Qatar, warning that the incident could jeopardize ongoing Gaza ceasefire talks, CNN reported.
“I’m not thrilled about the whole situation. It’s not a good situation. But I will say this, we want the hostages back, but we are not thrilled about the way that went down,” Trump told reporters Tuesday evening.
The remarks highlighted the fragile state of Trump’s attempts to broker peace in Gaza, his strained relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and his efforts to maintain close ties with U.S. Gulf allies.
U.S. officials said Trump was informed of the strike only shortly before it began, not by Israel but by Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Staff. Trump then directed White House special envoy Steve Witkoff, who has close ties with Qatari officials, to brief them, but the warning came too late.
Officials also said Witkoff had met just a day earlier with Netanyahu’s adviser Ron Dermer, but was not informed of the planned strikes during those talks, a development that further frustrated some of Trump’s advisers.
