Trump receives ceremonial welcome in Ankara ahead of NATO summit

ANKARA, July 7 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - U.S. President Donald Trump received a ceremonial welcome in Ankara on Tuesday ahead of a NATO summit expected to focus on defence, Ukraine and wider alliance security.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Trump at Etimesgut Air Base, where a Turkish honour guard stood at attention.
The reception included a turquoise-blue carpet, reflecting its connection to Turkish tradition.
The White House said Trump was also greeted by U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and Special Presidential Envoy for Syria and Iraq Tom Barrack, U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matt Whitaker and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine.
Trump’s arrival comes as NATO leaders gather in Ankara for talks on defence investment, military readiness, support for Ukraine and broader security challenges facing the alliance.
The visit also places renewed focus on relations between Washington and Ankara, with Trump having repeatedly described Erdoğan as “a friend.”
